How do I register my fingerprints?

The first time you plug in your SecureStix device, a dialogue box pops up asking you to register a finger.

You simply select a finger from the diagram and then click next to ‘Enroll’ that finger. You have to swipe your finger at least three times, as the software amalgamates each captured image and combines them to create an overall picture of your fingerprint.

You can register up to ten fingers, this could be all of your fingers or a finger from ten different people, making this device perfect for specialist teams who all need to access or backup a single secure data source.

Do I need to load any software?

No, the SecureStix USB Memory Stick comes loaded with all of the software required to use the device.

The first time you plug this in, you will be asked to setup a public and private segment of the Memory Stick.

By setting up a public and private segment, you will be able to load files on the public section of the stick (just like on any ordinary USB stick) to share with your friends, but the private section will remain concealed until you authenticate it by swiping your finger over the fingerprint reader.

The SecureStix device also has software loaded which allows you to encrypt any file on the computer (or stick) you are using,

This means you could have secret files on computers all over the place, but only you can read them, and only once you plug in your SecureStix device and swipe your finger.

What's on the mini-CD included in the box?

The software on the mini CD (included in the box) is not required for normal operation of the USB Memory Stick.

The software on the mini-CD contains the following files to add even more Biometric protected features to your everyday home or work computer:

Automatic login for Windows – just swipe your finger to access your entire computer.

Encrypt/Decrypt a folder – allowing you to encrypt an entire folder on your computer or SecureStix device.

Use the screen saver lock – ensuring that only you can unlock your computer if you leave your desk for a period of time.

Use Secure Notepad – encryption for those little notes you leave for yourself on your computer – to ensure no-one else can see them.
